Gothic Matrimony

If you or someone you know is getting married this month, then they’re in good company – statistics show that more weddings take place in June than at any other time of year and it’s not just down to the likelihood of good weather.

June is named after the ancient Roman goddess Juno, who was not only a protector but was also the goddess of marriage. It was believed that couples who married in her month would be blessed with happiness. Coincidence or not, during medieval times, a person’s annual bath usually fell around this time of year which meant that June brides were more likely to smell better! Nowadays, summertime weddings are popular for more logistical reasons – it’s easier for families to attend during school holidays and honeymoons can double up as an annual vacation.

Whatever reason lies behind your choice of date, you can celebrate your special day with Alchemy’s unique Gothic Matrimony necklace [P659] (Above) or the regal sapphire-effect A Dark Engagement ring [R166] (left) – both are set with glittering Swarovski elements.
