Timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the very first Gothic novel, Horace Walpole&#8217;s &#8216;The Castle Of Otranto&#8217;, it&#8217;s the UK&#8217;s largest exhibition of Gothic and is open to the public until 6 January 2015.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Alchemy were lucky enough to get a preview and adored all the amazing historical pieces in there. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3778 size-medium\" title=\"Rabbit Web copy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Rabbit-Web-copy-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\">The exhibition is divided into six sections beginning with Walpole&#8217;s grandiose oeuvre, taking in poetry, classic horror movies, costume and ending with a photographic representation of the modern gothic subculture. Inside, you can see rare manuscripts such as the original draft of Mary Shelley&#8217;s &#8216;Frankenstein&#8217; and a first edition of &#8216;Dracula&#8217;, breath-taking artwork and even film clips with spoken word contributions from authors such as Neil Gaiman and Sarah Waters. The library will also be hosting a programme of themed <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3777 size-medium\" title=\"Dracula web copy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-36x26.jpg 36w, https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-90x67.jpg 90w, https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Sea-Monster-32x24.jpg 32w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>events including the launch of Anne Rice&#8217;s new novel &#8216;Lestat&#8217; and gothic journalist Natasha Scharf&#8217;s latest book &#8216;The Art Of Gothic&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Display your love of all things Gothic with Alchemy&#8217;s latest pieces, which include the elegant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/necklaces\/923-viennese-nights.html\">Viennese Nights necklace [P701]<\/a>, dripping with Swarovski-accented bats, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/pendants\/889-gothic-devotion-cross.html\">Gothic Devotion Cross [P698] <\/a>\u2013 one of the most widely-used amulets in the world.
