\"\"<\/a>Alchemy\u2019s old friends, the Italian Gothic Metal legends Lacuna Coil have been revealing a little more about their much-anticipated, forthcoming album. Entitled Broken Crown Halo, it\u2019s scheduled for an April release, and a concept album. In conversation with TeamRock Radio, they explained that the record was heavily influenced by the classic, vintage horror films being made in their homeland decades back. Particularly gory cult 70s masterpieces such as Deep Red and Suspiria, directed by Italy\u2019s maestro of the macabre, Dario Argento. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u2018We kind of grew up with it because they were always playing them on TV and this is the type of scenarios that always attracted us \u2013 especially as a band \u2013 we\u2019ve always been attracted and inspired by the darker side of music and movies\u2019, explained the band\u2019s glamorous singer Cristina Scabbia. \u2018We approached the lyrics by getting some metaphors from horror movies,\u2019 added fellow vocalist Andrea Ferro, \u2018especially the early-70s-80s horror movies by Italian masters like Dario Argento, or Bava, or any of the other directors who use bands like Goblin or composers who use these 70s-80s keyboards.\u2019 Goblin\u2019s soundtracks \u2013 haunting, eerily experimental prog rock \u2013 have become almost as legendary as the films themselves, and the band has recently reformed to play them live in heavier arrangements. <\/p>\n
