In the wake of the very mixed response to his most recent horror movie \u2013 last year\u2019s bold and bizarre Lords of Salem \u2013 Rob very publicly announced he was done with directing horror for the foreseeable future. Until now&#8230; <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/index.php\/2014\/03\/zombie-to-return-to-horror\/devils_rejects_ver6_xlg\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3373\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3373\" title=\"devils_rejects_ver6_xlg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/devils_rejects_ver6_xlg-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Zombie\u2019s plan had previously been to take a radical new direction with a film based in the harsh world of pro ice hockey entitled Broad Street Bullies. But in a recent interview with 3News, while on tour in New Zealand with his band, the singer revealed he was now returning to horror, after struggling to find enough backing for the sports drama he\u2019d been developing. The director predicts that the new film will connect most with fans of his most provocative film, the Devil\u2019s Rejects, while expressing puzzlement over the cult popularity of his directorial debut, House of 1000 Corpses, which he dismissed \u2018a calamitous mess\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/index.php\/2014\/03\/zombie-to-return-to-horror\/house_of_1000_corpses_poster\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3375\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3375\" title=\"house_of_1000_corpses_poster\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alchemyengland.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/house_of_1000_corpses_poster-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u2018Well, people like it, but when it came out it seemed like everyone hated it,\u2019 shrugged Zombie. \u2018Now everyone acts like it\u2019s beloved in some way. All I see is flaw, upon flaw, upon flaw, upon flaw\u2026 It\u2019s so odd how people judge things, so I\u2019ve stopped trying to figure it out. The one thing I\u2019ve noticed is that as time goes on, nobody likes anything when it\u2019s new. As soon as it\u2019s old, it gets this weird, established gloss to it: \u201cOh, it\u2019s a classic!\u201d Really?\u2026 and it\u2019s always like as long as it\u2019s old, it\u2019s good.
